Hi, I’m Elizabeth and I am a mom of two and wife of one; the two most important roles among the many that I juggle!
I have grown up with a pen in my hand all my life; documenting and dissecting my life in a way that allows other people to relate and feel seen and heard. Having grown up in a more traditional Christian home, I have also grappled with my faith and really had to question what I believe and why I believe it.
I am also a full-time employee, a full-time mom, and wife, and a full-time daughter. I also feel like a full-time cook, cleaner, chef, chauffeur and counselor; as all moms do! In my spare time I enjoy walking, taking photos on my phone, writing, reading and drinking coffee.
When I was a child, I couldn’t decide between wanting to become a writer, a teacher or a chef; but in the end, writing has always been the thing I have fallen back on again and again. I love cooking, and I have done my time as a teacher – but writing is like breathing to me, I simply can’t live without it.
10 Things That Make Me Unique!
- I am born and raised in New Zealand; but despite this, I didn’t really learn or understand our nation’s history until I started working for our local indigenous tribe (iwi); and every day I learn something new.
- I was just diagnosed in October 2022 with breast cancer, and have been told a number of times I should document my journey through this blog.
- Don’t bother talking to me before my morning cup of coffee and a shower.
- I hate pineapple – with an absolute passion (& mushrooms come in second).
- We are living with my Mum until my husband finishes building our dream home (he is not a builder, yet our house is going to be amazing); and she will be moving in with us, and will have her own wing.
- I write poetry, I have done this since I was 16 – it is how I process big things.
- I was diagnosed with a rare disease in my 20’s, and was told my future consisted of eventually becoming bedridden – but God is faithful, and I am 98% healed, with just very small flare-ups once in a while; I call them reminders of those years.
- I love sunsets and sunrises, and have (quite literally) thousands of photos of the sky on my Google Drive!
- My family is a family with many allergies and intolerances, and I tried to set up a Meal Planning business as Covid hit… let’s just say only Covid made it past the first year! I have discovered, as much as I enjoy cooking, it doesn’t go beyond my own kitchen!
- I am a fully trained Early Childhood Teacher, but once I finished my degree I never worked in ECCE again; having worked in it for over 4 years before training.
